NORTHAMPTON — Emergency responders took one person to the hospital Monday after a three-car crash on King Street near the Bluebonnet Diner.
Officer Michael Cronin said authorities were called to the scene at 4:15 p.m. He said one person was taken to Cooley Dickenson Hospital with minor injuries, but couldn’t offer any other details.
At the scene, Jason Walker, 39, of South Hadley, said he was stalled in stop-and-go traffic when his Honda Civic was rammed from behind, causing him to slam into the car in front of him.
He said the woman who crashed into him, driving an older-model Nissan Maxima, wasn’t at the scene anymore.
“All of a sudden I just got smashed from behind hard,” Walker said. Motioning toward the driver he ran into, he added, “Then I smashed into that guy.”
Walker’s car was towed away with front-end damage, a possible bent-up frame and a dangling back bumper.
Driving a 2016 Subaru Impreza, David Morse, 41, of South Hadley, said he was the last link in the chain reaction.
“I heard the screech, looked in the rearview mirror, saw her car go into the back of his car and his into the back of mine,” he said.
Both men stood at the scene afterward.
Morse said his neck was sore.
Walker said he was sure he’d feel it tomorrow.
