AMHERST — A driver was transported by Amherst Fire Department ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton following a two-car crash on Commonwealth Avenue Tuesday morning, according to University of Massachusetts Police.
The accident occurred when a woman, who is not being identified, was driving south on Commonwealth near the Mullins Center and attempted to make a left turn onto Camopus Center Way, police said.
While one vehicle traveling north stopped to allow the turn, a second northbound vehicle did not, broadsiding the turning vehicle.
The injured woman was trapped in the vehicle and extrication tools were used to remove her, said Fire Chief Walter “Tim” Nelson.
