GRANBY – No injuries were reported in a morning fire that closed a portion of East Street Thursday.
Firefighters were called to 165 East St by a resident around 9:50 a.m., according to Acting Fire Chief Bruce Carpenter.
When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke coming from the home’s garage with fire in the back of it, Carpenter said. The fire started in an area between a wood stove and a chimney.
It took about 30 minutes to put the fire out. The fire did not spread to the attached house but caused damage to an adjacent wall as well as the ceiling and roof rafters, according to Carpenter.
East Street was closed for over an hour from New Ludlow Road to the Ludlow line while firefighters were on scene.
