The Euridice Ensembles Baroque Band will perform Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Under the direction of Robert Eisenstein, director of the Early Music Program at UMass, the program will include Italian music for strings by Frescobaldi, Legrenzi, Corelli, Geminiani and Albinoni. Free.

Open studio

Hatfield potter Donna McGee will hold an open studio Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at East Street Clay Studio, 47 East St. in Hadley.

McGee makes functional bowls, cups, platters and tiles that are decorated with scenes from nearby farms and fields, flora and fauna.

“I love displaying every pot that I have and welcoming folks to enjoy a bit of cheer,” McGee said. “It’s a celebration of who we are and of where we are.”

At W. Baczek Fine Arts

A solo exhibit of new landscape paintings done in egg tempera by Jeff Gola will open Friday and will remain on view through Dec. 17 at William Baczek Fine Arts, 36 Main St. in Northampton. There will be an artist’s reception Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gola’s landscapes depict traditional subjects — barns, fields and paths in the woods — but with a contemporary aesthetic and modern sensibility.

Gola lives in southern New Jersey. His landscapes show that area, as well as some western Massachusetts scenes.

Gallery hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.

Yiddish music

“Day is Same as Night: A Program of Yiddish Music of Labor, Love, and Loss from the early 20th century” will be presented by Hilltown musician Laurel Israel Saturday at 7 p.m. at Beit Ahavah — The Reform Synagogue of Greater Northampton at 130 Pine St. in Florence.

The name, “Day is Same as Night,” is from the title of a Yiddish labor song. The concert is a benefit for Beit Ahavah.

On the program: seldom-heard and unusual Yiddish music from 1903 to the mid-20th century. Accompanying herself on guitar, piano and accordion, Israel will sing songs in Yiddish and in English (translations will be available).

Members of the synagogue will offer readings from the period; one is from a letter written by Israel’s grandfather to her father in 1943. Another segment will consist of songs and piano pieces inspired by the Kishinev Pogrom of 1903.

Israel is a baroque cellist with Ensemble Suave, based in Boston, and has performed in the Boston Early Music Festival. She is also a folk musician, with a specialty, as the title suggests, in Yiddish songs of love, loss and labor, as well as American popular, folk and labor songs from 1880 to 1950.

Suggested donation: $18.

For information, send an email to Beit Ahavah at info@beithavah.org or call 587-3770.

Meunier, one of the original handful of artists associated with the gallery when it opened in 1979, has been diagnosed with a rare form of incurable cancer. A reception Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. will be a celebration of his life and art.

A percentage of sales from this exhibit will be donated to Hospice of Franklin County.
