BUCKLAND — All season long, the Frontier Regional football team’s offense was led by its three-headed attack in the backfield.

On Wednesday night, all three left their mark on the annual Thanksgiving Eve rivalry game with Mohawk Trail.

Seth Gewanter, Aaron Landry and Steven Worthley combined to score six touchdowns as the Red Hawks rolled to a 41-16 win over the Warriors at Pollard Field.

Each of the backs scored twice for the Red Hawks (6-4), who jumped all over Mohawk in the first quarter and never trailed.

Frontier’s first possession ended with a 22-yard touchdown run by Worthley that had the Hawks up 6-0 less than two minutes into the game. Frontier then recovered the kickoff following the touchdown and on the first play of that drive, Frontier quarterback Myles Freeman lofted a pass into the end zone that Landry came down with to put the Hawks up 12-0 just 2 minutes, 2 seconds into the game.

The Red Hawks added another touchdown late in the first quarter on a 68-yard run by Worthley, and Frontier backup quarterback Matt Hildreth hit Gewanter with the extra point for a 20-0 lead.

Frontier put together its longest drive of the game to start the second quarter, a 15-play drive that took over 7 minutes and was finished by Gewanter’s 2-yard touchdown burst up the middle for a 26-0 lead. The 2-point conversion pass was intercepted by Mohawk defensive back Jonny Herbert and returned 103 yards for two points as Frontier took a 26-2 lead into the break.

Frontier added another touchdown late in the third quarter as Landry got his second score, this one from 46 yards out, and Gewanter’s successful conversion run staked the Hawks to a 34-2 lead.

Mohawk (3-8) scored back-to-back touchdowns in the fourth quarter, as fullback Mason Biagini scampered 15 yards into the end zone following a Frontier fumble. On the next Mohawk possession, quarterback Kamron Hoff threw a pass to Herbert that was tipped into the air by a Frontier defensive back, but Herbert stayed with the play and tipped the ball to himself, completing a 51-yard touchdown that pulled Mohawk to 34-16.

Frontier sealed the win late on Gewanter’s 1-yard touchdown run, and Hildreth kicked the extra point for the 41-16 final.

Landry finished with 17 carries for 172 yards, while Worthley added eight carries for 100 yards. Gewanter chipped in nine carries for 16 yards, and senior lineman Kade Gewanter even got a carry for 3 yards.

Freeman finished 2-for-2 for 42 yards and a touchdown, and Hildreth was 4-for-4 for 72 yards.
