Sophia Jacobs-Townsley capped her cross country season with a solid performance at the Nike Cross Regional Championships, held Saturday at Bowdoin Park, Wappingers Falls, New York.

The Amherst Regional sophomore placed 37th in 19 minutes, 47.9 seconds in the Girls Championship 5-kilometer race.

Aislinn Devlin of Pennsylvania won in 18:09.1.

Jacobs-Townsley wasn’t the only Hurricane competing.

Zada Forde was 156th in 21:42.5, while Maggie Ryan was 227th in 26:09.9.

In the Combined Girls Open race, Hampshire Regional’s top five runners combined to place 10th out of 21 teams.

Hampshire junior Sophia Prouty was 105th overall in 22:22.10, but she earned 40 team points. Junior Charlotte Reynolds (48 points) was 132nd in 22:46.50.

Senior Haley Marek (49) was 135th in 22:54.60, while Abigail Touchet (59) finished 155th in 23:04.50.

Eighth-grader Maddy Jenkins was 222nd in 24:03.90, but she rounded out the top five with 90 points.

In the Boys Open Green race, junior Gabe Randall was 106th in 19:34.1 to pace Amherst.

Sean Towse was 125th (19:53.3), Scott Harvey-Arnold finished 165th (20:46.5), Ben Ryan was 186th (21:30.8) and Derek Sherwood rounded out the top five in 223nd (29:29.8).

The results from the Boys Open Green Division were merged with the Black Division, leaving Amherst in 47th place with 1,419 points.
