Sellers of used and antiquarian books, letterpress printers, papermakers, bookbinders and engravers — along with writers and poets, are all are part of this weekend’s Northampton Book and Book Arts Fair on the Smith College campus.
Events begin Friday with a keynote talk by Ruth Rogers on “Layers of Perception: The Unwritten Language of Artists’ Books” (Neilsen Library Browsing Room), followed by the official opening of the fair, 5-9 p.m. (Smith College Campus Center).
Events running 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Campus Center include readings, talks and book signings by fiction writers, graphic novelists, poets, children’s book writers and illustrators, publishing and culinary historians and independent publishers. Also: demonstrations of letter carving and other books arts, including hand papermaking, custom bookbinding, letterpress printing and artist bookmaking.
