National Weather Service forecasters predict a snowy start to the workweek, with snowfall that could affect morning commutes.

Up to 2 inches of snow could accumulate in the early morning hours through midday. High elevations in Connecticut and northern and western Massachusetts could bear the brunt of the precipatation, according to the weather service.

Snowfall will likely continue into midday, according to weather service predictions, before mixing with or changing to rain and then concluding.

“Anticipate impacts to the Monday morning commute,” a weather service notification issued after 4 p.m. Sunday said. “Please be prepared for hazardous travel conditions and reduced visibilities with snow.”

According to forecast models, people in Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden counties could all see snow.
