SOUTH HADLEY — Police continue to investigate an armed robbery at Berkshire Bank on Lamb Street during which a man armed with a knife stole an undisclosed amount of cash after demanding money from a teller.

The robbery occurred Thursday around 5:15 p.m. and the suspect fled on foot from the rear of the bank towards Gaylord Street. He could have possibly got into a vehicle, Police Chief Steven Parentela said. The suspect was described as being about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet inches tall and masked.

“The detectives are going over evidence from the scene,” he said. “It’s possible there was a car in the area because police were on the scene so quickly.”

Police are asking anyone who saw any suspicious activity related to the robbery, including any vehicles in the area of Gaylord Street, to contact the South Hadley Detectives Bureau at 538-8231.
