The Easthampton boys basketball team had two issues in a 63-56 home loss to Sabis on Thursday: Free-throw shooting and Bulldogs center Aaron Williams.

Williams won the rebounding battle, especially on offense, and scored 32 points against the Eagles (1-1).

At the free-throw line, Easthampton shot 12-for-29.

Zach Crisafulli had 17 points for the Eagles while Ant Moynihan added 16, including three 3-pointers.

St. Mary 52, Smith Vocational 42 โ€” The Vikings got 17 points from Luis Acosta but lost at the Westfield Tech Tournament.

Jayvon Cordova added 14 points for Smith Voke (0-2).

Gateway Regional 30, Westfield Tech 26 โ€” Shane Mastello put up 14 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks at the Westfield Tech Tournament.

Brett Turban had eight points and seven steals for the Gators (1-1, 1-0 Tri-County).

Girls basketball

Sci-Tech 34, Granby 28 โ€” Nora Young scored 16 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, but the Rams lost their season opener.

They went 11-for-62 from the floor as a team.

โ€œFirst game for a lot of these kids in a varsity uniform,โ€ Granby coach Tom Burke said. โ€œTheyโ€™ll be alright. Work in progress.โ€

Mallory Beauregard and Kaleigh Croteau hit 3-pointers and scored five points each for Granby (0-1).

Minnechaug 58, Hampshire 47 โ€” Katy Oโ€™Connor scored 16 points, but the Raidersโ€™ comeback attempt fell short.

Hampshire (1-1) outscored the Falcons 27-8 in the fourth quarter but couldnโ€™t overcome the deficit.

Katelyn Pickunka added 11 for the Raiders (1-1).
