It won’t be snowy for long.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s snowstorm will switch over to rain at around noon today. The rain will continue until 5 p.m., according to spokeswoman Lenore Correia. According to the forecast, Hampshire County will receive 3 to 5 inches of snow.

According to Correia, the snow began around 3 a.m. Saturday. As far as Hampshire County totals go, Plainfield has 3.8 inches of snow, and Amherst reported 2.6 inches of snow before 7 a.m. The most recent report, from South Hadley at 9:44 a.m., is 3 inches of snow.

A Winter Weather Advisory will continue until 3 p.m. today. The advisory was issued at 3:45 a.m., according to the National Weather Service website. According to Correia, that advisory is nothing serious, it just means residents should expect snowy conditions.

“Just be aware that there are snowy conditions and the roads could be a little dangerous and slick,” Correia said by telephone.
