NORTHAMPTON – Temperatures dropped below zero Tuesday, but meteorologist Lenore Correia said it will warm up this week.

“We have really strong southwest winds,” Correia said. “Warm air from the south is being brought up to New England.”

Between 7 and 8 a.m. Tuesday, temperatures were reported at 1 degree below zero. However, Correia said the day would warm up, and is forecasted to reach a high of 31. Wednesday will warm up to the upper 30’s and the rest of the week is expected to reach 40, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather is expected to be partly cloudy most of the week with a chance of rain or snow Thursday.

A high near 40 is forecasted for Christmas Day, Correia said.
