NORTHAMPTON — A Granby man facing a single count of possessing child pornography pleaded not guilty to the charge in Hampshire Superior Court Tuesday.

Sean W. Scully, 45, was indicted last month by a grand jury. Authorities earlier arrested Scully on July 26, 2016, on the same charge to which he pleaded not guilty in Eastern Hampshire District Court and posted $2,500 bail, according to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, which is prosecuting the case.

Assistant Massachusetts Attorney General Elizabeth Vasiliades and defense counsel Jesse Adams agreed in court Tuesday that Scully could remain free on personal recognizance with special conditions, including that he have no contact with any child younger than 18, wear a GPS device and stay clear of schools. The same conditions were previously imposed when Scully made bail. Adams declined comment after the hearing Tuesday.

Massachusetts State Police assigned to the attorney general’s office launched an investigation in April after being tipped off by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that pornographic images of children were uploaded from a cell phone “linked to Scully,” according to a news release.

Authorities executed a search warrant in July at which point they searched all computers, phones, tablets and storage devices found in Scully’s Granby home. Images of child pornography were allegedly found on various devices, authorities said.
