EASTHAMPTON — Officers in the Easthampton Police Department are reminding drivers to clear their windshields or face consequences after a man with one completely frosted front crashed into a police cruiser on Tuesday.

Police Chief Bob Alberti said ‘tis the season for ticketing hasty drivers who don’t make the time to defrost and remove snow.

“Especially this time of year we start getting our ice and snow and sometimes people are careless,” he said. “Remove snow and remove things that block your vision — you can avoid extra citations.”

He said the driver was cited for impeded operation.

“This guy went right through the stop sign,” he said. “It’s very fortunate that he hit a cruiser and not someone walking.”
