NORTHAMPTON — A Granby man who pleaded not guilty this fall to child pornography charges is facing more charges after a grand jury indicted him on Tuesday.

Eric Lacoste, 34, was arrested in September by authorities at his Darrel Avenue home in Granby after an investigation traced child pornography activity to his computer’s IP address.

The indictment handed up Tuesday charges Lacoste with nine counts: four counts of posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity or sexual conduct, four counts of enticement of a child younger than 16, and one count of possession of child pornography, court records show.

Lacoste pleaded not guilty Sept. 12 in Eastern Hampshire District Court to possession of child pornography (second offense), dissemination of child pornography, dissemination of matter harmful to a minor (second offense), posing or exhibiting a child in a state of nudity, and solicitation of felony.

This was the second time Lacoste was suspected of child-porn-related offenses in recent years after he was convicted in 2014 on similar charges, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

He’s being held without right to bail at the Hampshire Jail and House of Correction, although he and his attorney, Jonah Goldsmith with the Committee for Public Counsel Services, may argue for bail at a later date. Lacoste is being held on the charges for which he was arraigned as well as for violating his probation in connection with the 2014 case.

“These are serious charges we’re going to take a look at … and (will) provide a vigorous defense on his behalf,” Goldsmith said by phone Thursday.
