The Pioneer Valley should expect freezing rain Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures Monday are expected in the lower 30s with precipitation moving in mid-afternoon.

Meteorologist Bob Thompson with the National Weather Service in Taunton said Sunday that he expected Sunday evening to be “benign” with clear skies and low chilly temperatures around 10 degrees.

Thompson said there was a chance for light freezing rain likely to break-out mid-to-late afternoon Monday and becoming more widespread late in the evening. A freezing rain advisory is scheduled for Monday from 3 to 11 p.m.

The meterologist continued that while there won’t be a lot of freezing rain, it is expected to be enough to make it hazardous to travel.
