NORTHAMPTON — A Southwick man on Tuesday denied assaulting a woman with a firearm after breaking into her Amherst apartment in October.
Daniel A. Sanchez, 27, appeared before Judge Richard Carey in Hampshire Superior Court and pleaded not guilty to six charges. Sanchez was charged with home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a family member, armed burglary, defacement of property and use of a firearm in a felony.
Sanchez is alleged to have broken into an East Pleasant Street apartment on Oct. 4 with a gun and injured the woman inside and damaged her property.
Sanchez was ordered held without bail until a GPS unit was available. When he is released, he will be placed under house arrest. Sanchez also was ordered to stay out of Amherst, submit to a mental health evaluation and not consume alcohol or drugs, among other conditions.
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for March.
