Hailey Leidel’s 18 points wasn’t enough for the UMass women’s basketball team in a 58-57 loss to Florida International in the FIU Christmas Classic, Tuesday in Miami.
The Minutewomen’s final attempt to win the game was a long 3-pointer that missed the basket.
Maggie Mulligan added 10 points and 16 rebounds for UMass (6-7). It was Mulligan’s ninth double-double of the year.
Alyx Stiff scored 11 points off the bench for UMass.
The Minutewomen play Drexel at noon (91.1 FM) Wednesday in the Classic.
