The Audubon Society has reported a variety of recent bird sightings in western Massachusetts.

The Harris’s Sparrow continues to come to feeders in Dalton.

Glaucous, Iceland, and lesser black-backed gulls continue to be reported at Turners Falls.

A lesser scaup was also noted at Turner’s Falls.

Two greater scaup continue to be seen at Congamond Lakes in Southwick.

A greater white-fronted goose and a cackling goose were seen on the Connecticut River in Agawam.

A pine warbler came to a feeder in Northampton.

A northern pintail was found at Forest Park in Springfield.

A northern shrike was seen in Belchertown and the red-headed woodpecker continues to be reported there.

A red-breasted merganser was found on Onota Lake in Pittsfield.

A lapland longspur was seen in Sheffield.

Other uncommon, winter species reported included: wood duck, green-winged teal, ring-necked duck, common goldeneye, hooded merganser, turkey vulture, red-shouldered hawk, belted kingfisher, peregrine falcon, merlin and American kestrel.

Also, yellow-bellied sapsucker, northern flicker, horned lark, snow bunting, American pipit, red-breasted nuthatch, winter wren, Carolina wren, golden-crowned kinglet, eastern bluebird, fox sparrow, savannah sparrow and pine siskin.
