Local wrestlers traveled to Holyoke for the Nighthawk Classic Tournament Friday morning.

22 teams from all over Western Massachusetts competed in the tournament.

Granby placed the highest of Hampshire County teams at ninth with 78 points. Smith Vocational was right behind Granby with 77 points.

After a second place finish 182-pound weight class Granby’s Clayton Yanosky earned his 100th career win for the Rams.

Also from Granby, Brad Taft placed first in the 285-pound weight class. Taft pinned Joseph Elahi of Hampden Charter in 7 minutes, 11 seconds.

Jack Kent placed third in the 120-pound weight class for the Rams.

Isaiah Cardenales of South Hadley won a 6-0 decision over Ludlow’s KJ Sotomayer to capture first place in the 106-pound weight class.

Smith Voke got a first place finish from Stone Mitchell in the 220-pound weight class after Mitchell won a 3-2 decision over Putnam’s Davyn Peterson.

Frontier’s Josiah Murray just missed a trip to the 138-pound finals with a 5-4 decision loss in the semifinals to Manuel Cruz of Putnam. Murray finished fourth.

Connor Pettis was third in the 126 pound weight class for the Red Hawks. He beat Northampton’s Noah Brink by a 16-4 decision in the consolation finals.

Hampshire Regional’s Michael Baldwin lost by a 17-3 decision in the semifinals of the 154-pound weight class and placed fourth.

Northampton’s Alex Meunier placed fourth at 182-pounds, losing a 4-3 decision to John Field of Monument Mountain in the consolation match.

Frontier was 12th (64.5 points), Hampshire was 14th (56 points), South Hadley placed 17th (47 points) and Northampton finished 20th (28 points).
