Police said they responded to reports of a fight outside the Meadowbrook Apartments, 491 Bridge Road, at 6:13 a.m. Sunday and arrested Melvin Montreil Harris, 40, of Brattleboro, Vermont. Police said a victim reported Harris struck him in the head with a beer bottle, and he faces charges for assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said they arrested David Peter Clark, 25, of West Springfield near Main Street and Strong Avenue at 1:28 a.m. New Year’s Day after officers observed a fight between two men. Officers determined Clark was the aggressor, police said, and charged him with assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

Police said they arrested 74-year-old Kenneth S. Pompilli of Florence after reports that he had crashed into three parked cars on Ryan Road after 7 p.m. Saturday. He was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, second offense.

Police said they arrested Ryan R. Adams, 32, of Greenfield, Saturday after noticing he was missing an inspection sticker on his car at the Big Y Supermarket on King Street. He was arrested after police determined he had an active warrant for allegedly violating a restraining order.

Police said Jason M. Houle, 45, of Springfield, was arrested after officers responded to a reported shoplifting at 2 p.m. Saturday. Police said Houle had tried to steal three bottles of tequila valued at $178. Houle faces charges for shoplifting by concealment, a third offense, and trespassing, according to police.

Police said they arrested Desmond Michael Wheeler, 20, of Winchendon, after responding to a report of a disorderly male at the Big Y on 136 King St. They found two bottles of alcohol on Wheeler totaling $55 in value, police said. Wheeler was arrested on three outstanding warrants, and charges with being a minor in possession of alcohol, shoplifting and intimidating a witness.

Police said they responded to the vicinity of Strong Avenue at 1:14 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call that someone had deflated a man’s tires. No one had been charged as of Saturday, police said.

Police said they responded to the Mary McColgan Apartments on 122 Grove St. at 11:22 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a man being pushed down the stairs and breaking his femur. Charges were pending Saturday against the person believed to have pushed the man, police said.

Police said they responded to the McDonald’s at 221 King St. at 12:38 a.m. Friday after reports of a disturbance in the drive through. Officers said they approached two men in a parked car, smelled alcohol and spotted an open Pabst Blue Ribbon can in the back of the car. Gavin William Hamill, 21, of South Deerfield was arrested and charged with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and his second offense of operating under the influence, police said.

The Northampton treasurer’s office reported receiving a counterfeit $50 bill Thursday, but police had yet to get in contact with whomever sent the bill to the office, police said.
