The Frontier Regional boys basketball team jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and never looked back en route to their first win of the season, 44-17, Monday at Athol.
The Red Hawks (1-4, 1-2 Hampshire) led 24-5 after the first quarter and 32-13 at halftime.
Myles Freeman, Ben Lowe, Kalen Evans and Carsten Carey each had six points to pace 12 scorers for Frontier.
Athol (0-7, 0-4) remained winless.
Turners Falls 74, Smith Academy 31 — Matt Bouley led the Falcons (1-5, 0-4 Hampshire) with eight points in the home loss.
South Hadley 3, Chicopee Comp 1 — Ben Watkins scored twice and Sean Doherty added one goal as the Tigers (3-2-1, 3-0-1 Fay-Wright) won at Fitzpatrick Skating Arena.
Nick Thibault and Andrew Brunelle each had one assist, while Jake Remillard made 18 saves.
