Thank you for covering the story about Smith College’s administration trying to shutter its amazing equestrian facility which was constructed and upgraded over the years thanks to many generous alumnae donor gifts.
I am personally horrified and shocked to hear of this, as one such significant donation was made by a Smith alumna and mother in memory of her daughter Christianne Johnson, also a Smith College student and equestrian teammate of mine, who was killed in a tragic train accident.
I personally chose to attend Smith due to its on-campus riding facility, which serves not only Smith students, but also the local Northampton community.
If the administration’s disgraceful decision is allowed to stand, it will cause me to sever all connections to my alma mater.
