The UMass hockey team fell behind early and a late comeback fell short as it dropped 2-1 to No. 6 UMass Lowell, Saturday at the Mullins Center.

Kurt Keats cut a 2-0 deficit in half in the third period, but the Minutemen (5-16-2, 2-8-1 Hockey East) couldnโ€™t net the equalizer.

Ryan Wischow made 35 saves for UMass.

Amherst 4, Connecticut College 1 โ€” Will Vosejpka, Greg Krisberg, David White and Thomas Lindstrom each scored as Amherst (9-3-1, 5-3-1 NESCAC) won at home Saturday.

Womenโ€™s ice hockey

Amherst 4, Bowdoin 0 โ€” Alex Toupal scored three goals as Amherst (7-4-2, 3-3-2 NESCAC) won at home Sunday.

Amherst 4, Bowdoin 2 โ€” Katie Savage scored two third-period goals to break a 2-2 tie as Amherst (6-4-2, 2-3-2 NESCAC) won at home on Saturday.

Womenโ€™s basketball

UMass 75, Duquesne 67 โ€” Hailey Leidel had 22 points and Alyx Stiff added a career-high 19 points as the Minutewomen (9-10, 3-3 Atlantic 10) won at home Sunday.

Maggie Mulligan added 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Leah McDerment had 10 assists, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Wheaton 62, Mount Holyoke 39 โ€” Xajaah Williams-Flores had 13 points and nine rebounds but the Lyons (3-13, 1-7 NEWMAC) fell on the road Saturday.
Amherst 69, Connecticut College 35 โ€” Jaimie Renner (17 points), Emma McCarthy (12) and Ali Doswell (10) reached double figures as Amherst (15-0, 3-0 NESCAC) rolled at home Saturday.

Meghan Sullivan (Granby) had three points and two rebounds in six minutes off the bench for AC.

Smith 66, Coast Guard 51 โ€” Kennedy Guest-Pitchett had 23 points and 11 rebounds as the Pioneers (11-4, 4-3 NEWMAC) won at home Saturday.

Connecticut College 83, Amherst 76 โ€” Johnny McCarthy had 19 points and Michael Riopel added 14 off the bench but visiting Amherst (10-4, 1-2 NESCAC) dropped its second straight Saturday. Amherst has gone 1-3 over its last four, all on the road.

Womenโ€™s indoor track

Little III Championships โ€” Leonie Rauls won the 1,000 in 3:08.17 and Kiana Herold won the high jump for third-place Amherst Saturday.

Alexandra Dibrindisi (Northampton) was third in the 400 (61.88) for host Wesleyan (second).

Little III Championship โ€” Maxim Doiron won the 60-meter hurdles (9.01) and Jordan Edwards won the triple jump for second-place Amherst Saturday.

Womenโ€™s swimming

Mount Holyoke 144, Vassar 134; Trinity 179, Mount Holyoke 98 โ€” Emily Craig won the 1,ooo-yard free, while Samantha Nemivant won the 1- and 3-meter diving events as the Lyons split at Trinity Saturday.

Wellesley 187, Smith 112 โ€” Eliza Cummings (1,000-yard free) and Kate Niemiec (100 back) earned wins but the Pioneers (3-4) fell at home Saturday.

UMass 186, Bryant 106 โ€” Meriza Werenski (South Hadley) won the 200 free and the 200 breast as the Minutewomen, who won 12 events, cruised at home Saturday.

UMass 185, Bryant 104 โ€“ Al Madden (100 breaststroke) and Oliver Wyeth (200 back, 500 free) won two events each to pace the Minutemen, who won 11 events at home Saturday.
