Not a Duck
Moody Bridge Road, Hadley
Photograph and text by Anne E. Ely, South Hadley
The day after the last snowstorm I took a walk on the Fort River Trail off of Moody Bridge Road in Hadley hoping to create some winter images. I was focusing my tripod mounted DLSR camera on a particularly nice scene of the river when my eye caught a movement within the frame. My thought was a brown duck walking along near the open water. Using my binoculars to check, I saw it was not a duck at all, but a bobcat! Quickly extending my medium length telephoto lens to its limit I made a couple of captures. The bobcat suddenly became aware that there was something out of place and stood for several seconds staring at me, then quickly turned and ran off into the bush.
