The Greenfield hockey team overcame a two-goal deficit to pull out an important home win at Collins-Moylan Arena, Saturday.

The Green Wave needed eight points in its final six games, and got two of them in a 5-4 win over South Hadley.

Evan Simmons (assist), who attends Smith Academy, tied the game at 2-2 and gave Greenfield (6-7-2, 3-7-1 Fay-Wright) a 4-3 lead it never lost.

Tyler Townsley, Tyler Miner (assist) and Zach Geyster each scored, while Matteo Velez and Robert Harris each had one assist for Greenfield.

Riley Drew made 31 saves in the win.

Trevor Ouimet (assist) scored twice, while Sean Doherty, Ben Watkins and Will Ortyl (assist) each had one goal for South Hadley (6-5-1, 6-2-1). Alex Joao had one assist and Jake Remillard had 15 saves.

Amherst Regional 11, Saint Mary’s 2 — The Hurricanes (9-5-1, 8-3-1 Fay-Wright) rolled past the Saints (5-7-1, 4-7) at Orr Rink on Saturday.

Belchertown 7, Turners Falls 3 — Vaughn Gillen (assist) and Chris Buffone each scored twice, while Nathan Ayers and Nate Pacheco (assist) had one goal apiece as the Orioles (7-5, 7-4 Fay-Wright) cruised at Collins-Moylan Arena, Saturday.

Cam Cass added two assists, while Andrew Mugford, Raymond Langevin and D’Andre Shubring each had one assist.

Kyle Greene made 26 saves in the win.

Chrus Urgiel, Cassidhe Wozniak and Michael McGoldrick scored, while Ethan Lafleur, Bryce Jordan, Bryan Baumann and Doug Hanieski had assists for Turners (0-13, 0-10).

Jordyn Lavallee made 22 saves in defeat.

Boys basketball

Amherst 84, Fitchburg 76 — Meikyle Murray (two blocked shots) scored a career-high 25 points, while Meikkel Murray (14 rebounds) added 24 as the Hurricanes (12-3) won at Williston-Northampton on Saturday.

Chris Edwards added 12 points and Tajahn Joyner had 11 in the win.
