NORTHAMPTON — Moving into Friday, following the deluge of snow and winter storm conditions that brought as much as 18 inches to some parts of the state, temperatures are expected to continue to drop — with more snow on the way.

Don’t be fooled by the sunny conditions in the morning, because the temperature high is expected to only reach the 20s, said National Weather Service meteorologist Bill Simpson, with increasing clouds throughout the day.

But those temperatures are likely to feel even colder with a wind chill slightly below zero in the morning and rising into the mid-teens, Simpson said. Snow is again forecast, expected to begin in the early evening and continue into Saturday morning, bringing the Valley another 1 to 3 inches, Simpson said.

As of late Thursday night, two school districts — Gateway Regional and Hampshire Regional — announced a two-hour delay to start the school day on Friday. Many more school districts in Franklin and Hampden counties called for delays.
