NORTHAMPTON — City police will sweep area establishments with liquor licenses during the next 30 days to ensure compliance with local license commission policies, department officials said Wednesday.
Northampton police — in collaboration with the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission, Northampton Prevention Coalition and the Strategic Planning Initiative for Families and Youth — aim to perform the so-called underage alcohol compliance checks twice a year, Chief Jody Kasper said.
Officials will visit each licensed Northampton establishment.
“It’s our [goal] to prevent underage alcohol consumption,” Capt. John Cartledge said. “It’s basically to check on licensed establishments to make sure they’re in compliance with the law.”
