The UMass softball team opened the season with a pair of wins at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational in Florida, Friday.
UMass opened with a 2-0 victory over Robert Morris and followed that with an 8-5 win over Siena in eight innings.
Tara Klee went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Game 1. Meg Colleran struck out four and allowed three hits in the win.
Kaitlyn Stavinoha was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Game 2. Maddie Sadler earned the win in relief of Quinn Breidenbach.
Colorado 11, UMass 7 — The 16th-ranked Minutewomen fell to 0-2 with the loss at Stetson University in DeLand, Florida.
Hannah Burnett had three goals, Hannah Murphy added two goals and Holly Turner finished with a goal and three assists for UMass. Lauren Hiller made 10 saves.
Amherst 1, Williams 0 — Thomas Lindstrom scored in the second period as AC (13-6-3, 8-6-3 NESCAC) won at Orr Rink.
