Isaiah Cardenales, Brandon Daniels and DJ Willard each placed fourth at the state Division 3 wrestling championships, which concluded Saturday at Wakefield High School.
Cardenales, a South Hadley senior and three-time Western Massachusetts champion, placed at 106 pounds.
Cardenales was pinned by eventual runner-up Ian Forgitano (Georgetown-Ipswitch) in 6 minutes, 5 seconds in a semifinal match. Cardenales won his consolation semifinal with a pin in 1:46 of Harry Brooks (Advance MSA). But Brian Garry (Holliston) won 5-1 in the third-place match.
Daniels, a Gateway Regional junior, competed at 113.
Daniels fell 13-0 to eventual champ Rufus Koblenzer in the semifinal round. Daniels held on for a 6-4 win over Mike Titus (Saugus-Winthrop) in the consolation semifinals, but lost 16-0 to Max Leete (Danvers) in the third-place match.
Willard, a Hampshire Regional junior, wrestled at 160.
Willard worked his way through the consolation bracket to place. Willard pinned Charlie Koshivas (Georgetown-Ipswitch) in 4:30 and beat Koby Ouimette of Smith Vocational 7-3 in the semifinals. Willard was pinned by Matt Mullally (Foxboro) in 2:50 in the deciding match.
Granby took home a fifth and eighth place to finish with 25 points and in 29th place.
Clayton Yanosky was fifth at 182 for the Rams, while Christian Perez was eighth at 106.
Melrose won the championship with 149 points. Foxboro was second with 127.
Hampshire (18 points) was 35th, while South Hadley (16) and Gateway (16) tied for 36th. Smith Vocational was 41st (15).
Ouimette was sixth at 160 for Smith Voke.
The top six wrestlers in each class advance to the All-State Championships, Friday-Saturday at Reading.
