The South Hadley girls basketball team finished its season undefeated after a 46-38 win over Chicopee Comp on the road Wednesday.
The Tigers (20-0) played one of their closest games of the year against the Colts. South Hadley had a six-point win over Hoosac Valley earlier in the season.
Sophie Gatzounas had 18 points, while Mia Kelly had 14 for South Hadley.
The Tigers pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Chicopee Comp 17-10.
Belchertown 59, Sabis 52 — Kayla Henry became the first in program history to lead western Massachusetts in scoring as the Orioles (6-14, 5-3 Suburban) wore down the Bulldogs in Springfield.
Henry finished with 26 points to average 25.8 points on the season.
Cara McKenzie dominated in the paint for Belchertown. She had 16 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Northampton 57, Holyoke 50 — The Blue Devils received a strong defensive effort as they beat the Purple Nights at home in their regular season finale.
Megan McCarthy held Callie Cavanaugh (15 points) below her season average of 22.5 points, while Sydney Lewandowski and Anna Kerwood also played well on defense.
McCarthy added 18 points and drew a fifth foul on Cavanaugh with four minutes left in the game.
Lauraine Joensen had 25 points, 21 rebounds and was 7-for-7 from the line in the second half.
Amanda Mieczkowski had five of her six points to help keep Hamp going in the third quarter.
Gateway Regional 55, Pioneer Christian 45 — Shane Mastello had 21 points, 17 rebounds and six blocked shots as the Gators (6-14) won the consolation round of the Falcons Winter Classic at Smith Academy in Hatfield.
Brett Turban had 17 points and Jake McKittrick added 12 in the win.
It was the final game for Gateway seniors Turban, McKittrick and Mastello.
Ware 56, Smith Academy 35 — Carter Woodward had 14 points and Jack Zigmont added 10 rebounds but the Falcons (3-17) closed their season with a loss in the Falcons Winter Classic final.
Max Bartlett had eight rebounds, while Jack Hession added seven.
It was the final game for Smith seniors Peter Leuschner and Hession.
Ware (8-12) qualified for the postseason with the win.
South Hadley 3, Amherst 3 — The Tigers and the Hurricanes skated to a draw at Orr Rink.
Nick Thibault, Will Hunter and Trevor Ouimet scored for South Hadley (10-7-3, 9-4-3 Fay Wright).
For the Hurricanes (12-4-2, 11-2-2) Jake Balderston, Nathan Masteralexis (assist) and Max Hopley found the net.
