WESTHAMPTON — As one of the eight dry towns in the state, Westhampton is considering an exception to the status as Outlook Farm seeks a license to pour.

The Farmers Series Pouring Permit is a license for farmer breweries, wineries and distilleries that allows the licensee to sell and allow samplings of the alcoholic beverages it manufactures on its premises.

In January, Gov. Charlie Baker signed a bill authorizing the town of Westhampton to grant a license for the sale of malt beverages on the farm’s premises.

The town will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday regarding the matter before the Select Board votes to grant the license.

While Outlook Farm, at 136 Main Road, has been selling beer and wine under a license through the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission, the pouring permit would allow people to consume the spirits on the premises.

The town’s administrative assistant, Cheryl Provost, said Outlook is not looking to be a brew pub, but seeks to provide tastings at events such as pig roastings.

Provost said issuing the permit to Outlook Farm will not change the dry status of the town.
