Four Hampshire Country wrestlers qualified for the MIAA All-State tournament, but none made it past the round of 16.
Isaiah Cardenales of South Hadley, D.J. Willard of Hampshire, Koby Ouimette of Smithfield and Brandon Daniels of Gateway all lost their first match in their respective weight classes of the double-elimination tournament.
Cardenales, a senior, lost to Masconomet’s Trevor Nugent at 106 pounds. He was pinned 5 minutes, 36 seconds into the bout. He won his first consolation match over Tyngsboro’s Evan Rankin 2-0 but lost in the next round 8-5 to Holliston’s Brian Garry.
He finished the season at 40-10 and his career at 111-23.
Daniels, a junior, was pinned after 19 seconds by Ludlow’s Dylan Beddow at 113 pounds. He beat North Attleboro’s Dylan Cooper 4-2 in his first consolation match but lost to Central Catholic’s Mikey Glynn 8-7 in the next round.
Ouimette, a senior, lost 9-1 at 160 pounds to Putnam’s Ahmad Sharif. He was awarded a bye for the first consolation round but was pinned in the next consolation round by Greater Lowell’s Anthony Blatus after 2:53.
Willard, a junior, was pinned after 3:50 by King Phillip’s Cameron Smith at 160 pounds. He beat Concord-Carlisle’s Alex Raddassi by forfeit in his first consolation match but was pinned after 1:03 in the next round by BP-Coyle-Cassidy’s Nick Power.
