Amherst 74, East Longmeadow 68 – The lead went below 10 and fluctuated to as high as 17, but No. 2 Amherst kept the No. 7 Spartans at arms length.

Northampton 67, Putnam 63 – For the first time since 2014, the Northampton boys basketball team played a home playoff game Thursday night.

Division 3

Palmer 37, Hampshire 25 – The Hampshire Regional boys basketball team’s season came to an end on Thursday in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 Tournament quarterfinal round.

Division 4

Granby 61, Ware 52 –  A stifling defensive performance in the opening half led the second-seeded Granby boys basketball team to a win over No. 7 Ware on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 Tournament.

Seven first-half steals helped Granby open a 37-19 lead at halftime. The Indians went on a run late to put some pressure on the Rams, but a three-point play by Zach Gorham with just over a minute left in the game stretched the lead back to double digits for Granby. – Continue story

Hopkins 78, St. Joe’s 49 – There was cause for some optimism in the St. Joseph’s crowd moments into the second quarter.

Top-seeded Hopkins Academy was already in some foul trouble and the Crusaders scored the first four points of the period to cut the Golden Hawks’ lead from 10 to six points. – Continue story
