HADLEY — With few details to work with, local authorities are asking area residents for help tracking down the motorist behind a Monday evening hit-and-run that left another driver injured.
The crash occurred about 7 p.m. at the intersection of routes 9 and 116, officials said in a Facebook post detailing the incident. The driver of a white Kia sedan was struck in the rear, causing moderate damage to the rear bumper and trunk area, said police Sgt. Mitchell Kuc.
The other driver promptly fled the scene, heading northbound on Route 116, authorities said. The victim could not describe the vehicle, officials said.
But because there were potential witnesses, investigators hope someone will step forward with identifying information, Kuc said.
“The other thing is that the person who was hit stated there were a number of vehicles in the area at the time of the collision,” he said. “Maybe someone that was in the area would call into us.”
Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to contact the Hadley Police Department at 413-584-0883.
The victim was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital after complaining of increasing neck pain, Kuc said.
