AMHERST — One of three individuals allegedly responsible for tearing open two packages left in a downtown apartment building and taking items from them valued at more than $2,500 was arrested early Thursday morning, according to Amherst Police.
Troy E. Ward II, 25, who provided police an address of the streets of Amherst, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. at the Boltwood parking garage on a charge of larceny from a building, said Detective Jamie Reardon.
Ward is alleged to have gotten into the lobby of Kendrick Place Apartments, 57 East Pleasant St., at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday, Reardon said, and, with two other people, opened packages containing Saks Fifth Avenue cosmetics and a Saks Fifth Avenue gift card, and a J.Crew shirt.
After an extensive search throughout downtown Amherst for the suspects identified in the theft, Ward was found and taken into custody. The other suspects remain at large, Reardon said.
