AMHERST — A suspect in shoplifting incidents at an Amherst grocery store in January is being summoned to court, according to Amherst Police.

The 25-year-old Belchertown man is facing one count of shoplifting more than $100 after taking $374.94 worth of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks from the Big Y Supermarket at 175 University Drive, said Detective Nicholas Chandler.

The incidents took place two weeks apart, the first on Jan. 2 and the second on Jan. 16, Chandler said.

Police are continuing to investigate a series of recent shoplifting incidents that occurred at Big Y and the neighboring CVS Pharmacy, which included thefts of energy drinks, razors and deodorant.
