EASTHAMPTON — The city of Easthampton has partnered with the Great American Rain Barrel Co. to offer discounted rain barrels to residents and nearby communities.
“Rain barrels are an effective way to collect water and reduce storm water pollution,” assistant planner Jamie Webb wrote in a press release.
According to Webb, residential water usage increases significantly during the growing season, and with a single barrel, a home can save over 1,500 gallons of water per year — keeping water bill costs down.
The 60-gallon rain barrels are being sold for $64 unpainted or $69 painted in green, brown or gray. According to the city, the rain barrels are normally priced at $119 each.
To order a rain barrel, visit easthampton.org/rainbarrels or call the Great American Rain Barrel Co. at (800) 251-2352.
Orders must be placed by April 26 and pick up is May 3 from 4-6 p.m. at the Municipal Building parking lot, 50 Payson Ave.
