Yanni Thanopoulos had a hit and two RBIs for the Amherst College baseball team in a 5-2 win over rival Williams Friday at Memorial Field in Amherst.

Nick Nardone continued his recent offensive surge with two hits and an RBI for the Mammoths (8-9, 2-2 NESCAC).

Sam Schneider picked up the win in relief, pitching five innings giving up two runs and five hits with two strikeouts.

Saint Louis 8, UMass 1 — With the offense struggling, the Minutemen lost their third straight game in Amherst.

Cooper Mrowka had two hits, including a double, for UMass, while Ryan Lever added an RBI single.

Brooks Knapek took the loss, giving up four earned runs and six hits.

Women’s lacrosse

MIT 20, Mount Holyoke 16 — The Lyons defense had trouble stopping the Engineers in the home loss.

Northampton’s Leila Kouakou had four goals for Mount Holyoke (3-9, 1-4 NEWMAC)

Kaitlin Braz was the high-scorer for Mount Holyoke with five goals.

Softball

UMass 5, Fordham 4 — Tara Klee hit a grand slam in the bottom of the third for the Minutewomen (18-17) in a home win.

Meg Colleran won her 10th game in the circle, going seven innings with four strikeouts while giving up eight hits and four runs.

Kaitlyn Stavinoha added three hits with an RBI.

WPI 4, Smith College 0; WPI 15, Smith College 4 — Brittney Bloker hit a three-run homer in game two, but the Pioneers (6-18) dropped a pair at home.

Amherst 6, Wesleyan 1 — The Mammoths (20-6, 7-0 NESCAC) took care of the Cardinals on the road.

Gina Pagan pitched five innings for Amherst to pick up with win, giving up three hits and striking out six.

Julia Turner had triple that drove in three runs for Amherst.

Men’s tennis

Amherst 8, Connecticut College 1; Amherst 6, MIT 3 — The Mammoths (15-3) won two road matches, with Josh Marchalik beating MIT’s Tyler Bar at No. 1 singles 7-6, 6-3 and 6-2.

Women’s tennis

Johnson & Wales 7, Smith College 2 — The Pioneers’ season came to an end with a home loss.

Margaret Anne-Smith beat Morgan Thompson 6-3, 6-4 ay No. 1 singles for Smith (5-13).
