AMHERST — University of Massachusetts Amherst police were investigating a burglary that occurred in a dorm Saturday, officials said Sunday.
The burglary occurred in Lewis Hall between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Saturday, police said. The alleged burglar took a Dell XPS 15 laptop computer, a Google Nexus cellphone and a pair of white Superstar Adidas shoes.
Police said the room was unoccupied and unlocked. In a second incident that day, the same person police believe to be behind the first burglary opened a second door but left after seeing the room was occupied.
Police said a suspect captured on security camera was wearing “heavily distressed jeans,” a black sweatshirt, Adidas sneakers with black stripes and a large blue and gray backpack.
