A two-run single in the sixth inning by Nick Heafey was the difference for the Northampton baseball team in an 8-6 win over Ludlow Monday.

Zac Brittain pitched a complete game for Northampton (3-1), giving up four earned runs with four strikeouts.

Devin Kellogg went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the third inning. Andy Grygorcewicz went 3-for-3 with a solo homer in the fourth.

West Springfield 5, Hampshire 2 — Garret Kowal pitched five innings and had two strikeouts for the Raiders (1-3).

Amherst Regional 7, Agawam 3 — The Hurricanes (1-3) put together a seven-run fourth inning to beat the Brownies at home and give coach Greg Vouros career win No. 100.

Seth Bella-Hunter had a two-run single in the inning for Amherst.

Bella-Hunter came on in relief to pick up the win, pitching 2⅔ innings, striking out seven.

Jake Balderston and Max Hopley each had two hits and an RBI.

Nathan Masteralexis started for Amherst and gave up one run and struck out three.

Lenox 15, Gateway 0 (6) — The Gators (1-2) managed one hit in a home loss to the Millionaires.

Nathaniel Bushor picked up a single for Gateway.

Softball

Northampton 13, Ludlow 1 (6) — The bats exploded for 18 hits and Anna Kerwood kept the Lions silent as the Blue Devils (4-1) cruised at home.

Emilia Pelis led the attack with a 5-for-5 effort. She had two doubles, a solo home run in the fifth and three RBIs.

Zoe Driscoll-Sbar was 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Abby Pelis was 3-for-4 with a run. Kerwood helped herself, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored.

Kerwood struck out 11 and allowed one hit, a single in the fourth.

“For whatever reason it was, today we put it all together,” Hamp coach Andy Pelis said. “It was one of those days. We were consistent. … Solid offensive game for sure.”

Chicopee Comp 6, Belchertown 1 — Alexis Lajeunesse doubled for the Orioles in a home loss.

Chloe Roux had six strikeouts in the circle for Belchertown (1-3), but gave up six runs, six hits and seven walks.

Girls lacrosse

Northampton 14, Westfield 10 — Megan McCarthy exploded for five goals and an assist to propel the Blue Devils (6-0) to victory.

Abby Baldwin added three goals of her own. Michelle Radke had six saves.

Northampton won the faceoff battle 17-5.

Boys lacrosse

Williston 19, Kingswood-Oxford 3 — The Wildcats had 11 players score in the home win.

Nick Day had six assists, while John Killcommons led Williston with three goals.
