Jenna Cozza hit a two-run home run Sunday and had an RBI on Saturday, as the UMass softball team beat Saint Joseph’s 1-0 and 3-1 to move atop the Atlantic 10 conference standings.

She scored UMass’ third run Sunday on a sacrifice fly by Kaycee Carbone.

UMass (22-19, 10-3 A-10) was originally scheduled to play three games over the weekend, but Sunday’s second game was canceled.

Meg Colleran only allowed three hits and struck out two for the shutout Saturday. She also got the win Sunday, allowing five hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

Williams 2, Amherst 1; Williams 5, Amherst 2; Amherst 4, Williams 3 — Sammy Salustri had three hits and three RBIs, as the Mammoths went 1-2 over the weekend.

Julia Turner totaled six hits and an RBI for Amherst (24-8, 10-2 NESCAC).

Smith 9, Coast Guard 0; Smith 6, Coast Guard 4; Wheaton 3, Smith 0; Smith 2, Wheaton 1 — The Pioneers went 3-1 over the weekend playing back to back doubleheaders.

Ally Snyder hit two home runs on Saturday and finished with six hits and three RBIs for the weekend.

Baseball

Amherst 7, Hamilton 2; Amherst 16, Hamilton 3 — Anthony Spina totaled three hits and five RBIs in a doubleheader sweep Saturday.

He hit a home run in the first game and a triple in Game 2.

Yanni Thanopoulos had three hits and three RBIs in the second game for Amherst (12-11).

La Salle 4, UMass 3; UMass 3, La Salle 0 — Mike Geannelis struck out nine in a five-hit shutout to help the Minutemen split a Sunday doubleheader to win their weekend series.

Brett Evangelista had three hits, while Dylan Robinson drove in a run in the win.

Dylan Morris had three hits, while Robinson added two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Men’s lacrosse

Hofstra 15, UMass 8 — The Minutemen couldn’t overcome 9-1 deficit in the second period Saturday.

Ben Spencer led UMass (5-7) with three goals. Jake Lisauskas added two, while Grant Consoletti, Jeff Trainor and Jesse Lung also scored.

Gianni Bianchin had two assists, and Trainor dished out one.

Nohah Rak led the team with nine ground balls, and D.J. Smith and Sean Sconone made five saves each.

Amherst 13, Williams 10 — Evan Wolf scored four goals, and the Mammoths won their fourth game in a row.

Colin Minicus, Brett Inglesby and Chris Albanese all had two goals, while Max Keeley added three assists for Amherst (11-3, 7-2 NESCAC).

Dylan Finazzo scooped up 18 ground balls, while Cody Tranbarger made 11 saves.

Women’s lacrosse

Amherst 9, Williams 6 — Julia Crerend and Hannah Fox each had hat tricks for the Mammoths on Saturday.

Fox added two assists and five ground balls.

Annie Cohen dished out two assists, and Kyra Gardner made eight saves for Amherst (6-7, 3-6 NESCAC).

Wellesley 9, Mount Holyoke 8 — Kaitlin Braz scored three goals with an assist, but the Lyons lost at home Saturday.

Mary LaVigne added two goals and an assist, while Leila Kouakou (Northampton), Charlotte Wagner and Julianna Rankin all found the net.

Isa Rodriguez made seven saves for Mount Holyoke (3-12, 1-2 NEWMAC).

Smith 12, Coast Guard 6 — Northampton’s Emily Biggs scored four goals, and the Pioneers won on senior day Saturday.

Chloe Harris added three goals and three ground balls, while Gigi MacDonald, Clelie Fielding, Caroline Myran, Bella Ferraro and Julia Hamilton also found the net.

Sydney Garner had two assists, and Sarah Price made five saves for Smith (9-7, 1-6 NEWMAC).
