GRANBY — A cat died after a house fire in Granby Saturday morning.
In a news release, the Granby Fire Department said police and fire crews responded to 187 West Street at 10:30 a.m. Saturday after a report of a fire at the rear of the home.
When crews arrived, they found “heavy smoke showing” and “moderate fire,” according to the release.
The two adults who occupied the home were able to escape. Fire crews were able to find the missing cat, but the cat was unresponsive and crews could not resuscitate it.
Several fire departments responded to the fire: Granby, both South Hadley fire districts, Westover Air Reserve Base, Ludlow and Belchertown. They cleared the scene around 1 p.m.
