EASTHAMPTON — Police are reporting a rash of motor vehicle break-ins on Russell Lane, Torrey Road and Pine Hill Road between the hours of midnight and 7 a.m. Thursday.

Officer Chad Alexander said the department received nine calls Thursday reporting car break-ins where loose change was missing. While some stolen change only amounted to a couple dollars, Alexander said some cars had about $15 to $30 in change.

Alexander said he suspects a person went from car to car, opening unlocked doors and taking what was readily available.

He advises residents to “keep doors locked.”

A similar pattern of car break-ins around the same the upper Loudville Road area occurred a month ago. A few reports were also made in late March where loose change was stolen from vehicles.

Regarding the investigation to the April incidents, Alexander said officers looked into places where change is cashed and interviewed possible suspects, but no arrests were made.
