It seems some residents of Westhampton have ripped a page or two from Donald Trump’s playbook.
If you don’t agree with people’s opinions or decisions, then target the people themselves. That’s the message I take away from the website titled “Our Westhampton” at www.ourwesthampton.com.
I don’t want to argue the pros and cons of the controversy embroiling the town – whether a move to locate a commercial sawmill on Northwest Road should go forward or not. I do take issue with the demeaning and insulting tone used to describe the two Planning Board members who have helped oversee the permitting process. They, as do most other town board members, volunteer countless hours to try to hammer out often-complicated issues. They do their best to be thorough, fair and impartial.
Regardless of whether you agree with their decisions, they deserve our respect — and our thanks. They are our neighbors.
