Seeds for the Central/West Lacrosse Tournament were announced Friday.

Both the girls and boys lacrosse teams from Northampton, as well as the Granby girls are in the field. Games begin as early as Tuesday.

In the Central/West Boys Division 2 Tournament, Northampton (12-6) is the 12th seed and will play at No. 5 Tantasqua (15-5), Wednesday at 6 p.m.

“Given where we finished I am not surprised we are in the situation we are in,” Northampton coach Matt Striebel said. “I am excited about the matchup.”

The Blue Devils lost to Tantasqua 15-7 to start their season in April.

“They can score really well,” Striebel said. “They lost to Minnechaug by one. They play organized defense and have good athletes in key positions.”

Sam Ohotnicky leads Northampton’s defense, while Ryan Heng made 166 saves in net. Tyler Allcroft (45 goals, 13 assists) is Northampton’s leading scorer.

The Blue Devils were ravaged by injuries over the course of the season. According to Striebel, they lost their second leading scorer Henry Attias to an undetermined injury on his left knee. Griffin Shaw tore his ACL, MCL and meniscus in his right knee and Jared Fowler broke his collarbone.

In the Central/West Girls Division 1 Tournament, Northampton is the eighth seed and will host No. 9 Doherty Memorial (Worcester) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Smith College.

Megan McCarthy scored an even 100 points for the Blue Devils with 65 goals and 35 assists in her senior season.

“Megan is excited,” Northampton coach Katie Carr said. “She has mixed feelings in her last run at Northampton. But she is playing the best lacrosse of her life.”

Abby Baldwin was second in scoring with 50 goals and 39 assists.

The Northampton defense is led by Summer Zackaricz and Tieyin Doherty-Weinraub.

“They are important to our young defense,” Carr said. “Their communication carries us.”

Carr praised goalie Michelle Radke, who’s been consistent all year in net.

Since Doherty plays in Central Mass., the Blue Devils have very little information about their playoff opponent.

In the Central/West Girls Division 2 Tournament, No. 8 Granby (14-6) hosts No. 9 Nipmuc (11-8), the team that ousted the Rams last season. The teams play at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Nipmuc beat Granby last season in overtime, 16-15.

Granby has plenty of offensive firepower starting with Kate Sarnacki, who had 98 goals and 51 assists during her senior season.

Jessica Patruno scored 60 goals while Julia Frappier added 27 goals.

Jenna Barthlow has 142 saves in net for the Rams.
