Amherst native Angela Zhu can add another line to her vast ultimate resume.
Zhu and Dartmouth’s Princess Layout beat Texas, 15-9, Monday in USA Ultimate’s College Division I championship.
Zhu had three goals and seven assists in the final, held at Bishop Fenwick High School, in Franklin, Ohio.
There were five lead changes and six ties as the team’s played to a 5-5 draw early. Dartmouth’s defense then held as Princess Layout went on a 6-0 run to take their first and only lead of the game.
Texas never threatened again.
Zhu finished with 11 goals and tournament-best 35 assists.
On Sunday, Zhu was named the winner of the Callahan Award, given to the country’s best player.
According to ultiworld.com, Zhu is considered the best handler in college ultimate. She is a member of the two-time national club champion Brute Squad, which is based in Boston.
She was named Ultiworld’s 2016 College Offensive Player of the Year and was runner-up for 2016 Defensive Club Player of the Year.
