It took the Belchertown boys tennis team less than a hour to move from the quarterfinals to the semifinals of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 Tournament.

The top-seeded Orioles made quick work of No. 8 Lee, winning 4-1 Sunday afternoon in Belchertown.

The Orioles swept their first two points.

Mike Laughner and Sean McCarthy beat Elias Keiderling and Tyler Geoghan 6-0, 6-0.

Noah Pare did the same with Christopher Petrescu at third singles.

Alec Morgado and Dennis Lelic finished the 45-minute victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win at first doubles over Lukas Loehr and Dom Bartini.

Belchertown (19-2) will host No. 4 South Hadley (11-8) Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Cyrus Raines made it 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles over Michael Comalli.

Ibz Zia of Lee took a point at first singles, holding off a challenge from Jon Vinagre to win 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 on a third-set tiebreaker.

Longmeadow 5, Amherst Regional 0 โ€” The No. 8 Hurricanes (8-8) saw their season end in the Division 1 quarterfinal round with the loss Saturday on the road.

Amherstโ€™s Nathan Ji pushed Ethan Purrington at third singles. Ji won the first set, but Purrington rallied for the 3-6, 6-3, 4-2 (10-2) victory.

Pat Oโ€™Connell fell at first singles for Amherst, losing 6-3, 6-1 to Jeffrey Mueller.

At second singles, Austin Xiong fell 6-4, 6-3 to Ashvin Babu.

Ben Griffiths and Daniel Moore beat Amherstโ€™s Ethan Yu and Andi Ni 6-3, 6-2 at first doubles.

At second doubles, Joey Green and Rohan Shenoy lost 6-0, 6-1 to Adam Katz and Patrick Burns.

It was the final match for Oโ€™Connell, Amherstโ€™s lone senior.

No. 1 Longmeadow (15-2) will host No. 5 Northampton (10-6), Monday at 4 p.m. in the semifinals.

Girls tennis

South Hadley 4, Mount Greylock 1 โ€” The top-seeded Tigers cruised into the Division 3 semifinals with a victory over the No. 9 Mounties, Sunday at Mount Holyoke.

Hailey Werenski beat Josie Dalsin 6-1, 6-0 at second singles, while Kaylin Cousineau dispatched Charlotte Sanford 6-1, 6-2 at third singles for South Hadley.

Aislinn Ford and Hannah Dahrouge won at first doubles to clinch the match, while Ali Deschenaux and Emma Parenteau took home a 4-6, 6-1, 13-11 victory at second doubles.

South Hadley will host No. 4 Lee (12-4), at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Holyoke.

Baseball

Hopkins Academy 5, Commerce 2 โ€” Trevor Fil struck out 14, walked two and scattered four hits in the compete-game victory Saturday as the Golden Hawks advanced to the Division 4 quarterfinal round Saturday.

No. 6 Hopkins Academy (9-10) will visit No. 3 Smith Academy (8-10), Monday at 4 p.m. Jon Morrison will pitch for Hopkins. The junior struck out 17 and threw a no-hitter against the Falcons on April 24. He fanned 15 and allowed two hits on April 25, 2016.

Fil helped his cause with a hit and two RBIs. Justin Butterfield (run) and Mike Curran (run) each had one hit for the Golden Hawks.

Nate Kelley, Noah Scanlon-Dean and Liam Higgins each scored one run.
