The National Weather Service on Sunday issued a flash-flood warning for western Massachusetts, which is set to last from Monday afternoon through the night.
Storms could bring “damaging winds, hail, and possibly even an isolated tornado,” according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. The agency also said wind gusts between 40 to 60 mph during the strongest storms were expected.
Weather service forecasters placed all of Hampshire, Franklin, Hampden and Berkshire counties under the watch.
Forecasters were calling for showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. in Hampshire County. Rates of rainfall at more than two inches per hour were possible, according to predictions.
That could lead to flash flooding in certain areas, according to MEMA.
Forecasters predicted thunderstorms would let up in the early morning hours Tuesday, but rainfall was still expected through the night.
