FLORENCE — It’s definitely, officially summer when the fireworks start — which they do this weekend.
The seventh annual Northampton Family Fourth Celebration is this Saturday, June 24, at Look Park in Florence.
The music starts with DJ Quills taking the stage at 4:30 p.m., followed by Kate Lorenz and the Constellations at 6 p.m. and the Florence Community Band at 8:30 p.m.
Fireworks are scheduled for after dark, about 9:30.
Look Park roads will close at 4 p.m. and games start at 5. Game tickets and food are cash only, but there will be an ATM at the Look Park Visitor Center.
As far as parking, Look Park will be open for traffic before 4, so normal rules apply. Those with handicap passes will still be allowed in after 4. Otherwise, parking is available at John F. Kennedy Middle School for a $5 donation or at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School for free, where there will be a free shuttle to the park.
Organizers say the event is funded through donations. Anyone interested in donating can visit the event’s website: northamptonfamilyfourth.com.
The event is advertised as “family friendly” and no smoking or alcohol will be allowed.
